Tickets for these events can be purchased online using the link below or in person at the Opera House. Please contact the City Special Event Coordinator Emily Bledsoe for more information.
Please note that refreshments at the Opera House are cash only. Refreshments include soda, water, beer, wine, as well as assorted chips and candy bars. Outside food and drink is prohibited.Lobby doors open one hour prior to showtimes. Theater doors open half an hour prior to showtimes. Unless otherwise stated, Abbeville Opera House Comedy shows are recommended for audiences 18 years of age and older. While no age restriction is in place, parents should be advised stand up comedy may contain some language and content inappropriate for children under 18. Parents are advised to use their discretion when bringing children younger than 18.
Abbeville Opera House Comedy Presents: Shaun Jones

For more than 19 years, the comedy world’s senses have been tantalized by both audio and visual artistry. The young man known as Shaun Jones is truly making his mark everywhere he goes, with his quick wit and fashionable flair. Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey and having lived in Los Angeles for a short time, Shaun now calls Atlanta, GA his home. He has traveled worldwide entertaining crowds, using many of his personal life experiences to get a good laugh. Like an accomplished chef, Shaun’s comedy combines a cup of truth, a tablespoon of originality, and a double twist of humor. Shaun has appeared on several national television shows, such as B.E.T’s “Comic View”, B.E.T’s “One Mic Stand”, BounceTV’s “Off The Chain” & Showtime’s “1 Amendment”.
Mac Arnold & Plate Full O’ Blues

Mac Arnold’s first band included James Brown on piano. Mac moved to Chicago and Muddy Waters hired him on the spot. He toured and recorded with the Muddy Waters Band and recorded LPs with Otis Spann and John Lee Hooker. Mac moved to Los Angeles and produced Soul Train with his friend Don Cornelius. He even played bass on the Sanford & Son television show when he wasn’t playing bass for Otis Redding and B.B. King. He retired from show business to be an organic farmer. Mac is back with his own band and a "plate full" of CDs, building a new foundation in blues, soul and funk.

Abbeville Opera House Comedy Presents: Mrs. Hughes

Over 7,000,000 YouTube and Facebook hits, the YouTube sensation who was a favorite of Merv Griffin, and recently on America’s Got Talent, is coming to Abbeville. The first time you see Mrs. Hughes you might think, “She could be my neighbor.” She’s just about the last person you’d expect to see in a night club, so the fact that she is performing in one might startle you at first. Her act is punctuated with pithy observations on parenting, hot flashes, and husbands, “They’re like brassieres. Sometimes you just want to be rid of them and go free. But you can’t ‘cause you need the support." She has appeared in several casino production shows and has opened for Crystal Gayle, Lou Rawls, Brenda Lee and others. This Florida girl has performed in some of the best comedy clubs across the country becoming one of the most requested by clubs and audiences alike. This has led to being invited to both the Boston Comedy Festival twice, once in 2006 and again in 2010. The 2007 Las Vegas Comedy Festival and Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in 2011. In 2009, she made her film debut in the independent film “Pose Down”. She has had several appearances on The Bob & Tom Show. In 2012 appeared on "Mom’s Night Out" on NickMom. She has also appeared on Comedy Time TV and Quicklaffs filmed at the world famous Pasadena Ice House in 2012.
